The Minority in Parliament has commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, for his swift response and leadership in visiting Bawku following renewed violence in the area.
On Thursday, April 11, 2025, the IGP led a high-level delegation comprising operations, investigations, and intelligence officers to the Upper East Region to assess the security situation and coordinate efforts to restore calm.
The visit came in the aftermath of a violent clash between police and local youth in Bawku, which reportedly resulted in deaths and injuries.
The private residence of the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, was also allegedly set ablaze during the unrest.
