Member of for Assin Central, Reverend , has appealed to the feuding factions in Bawku to support ongoing peace efforts.
In a post shared on his official X page on Friday, April 11, 2025, he urged the government to promptly address the security situation in the township. "We addressed a minority press conference today, calling on the government to act swiftly to contain the deteriorating security situation in Bawku. "We urge calm among all feuding factions and appeal for restraint from engaging in reprisal attacks that may further escalate tensions," he said.
He bemoaned the impact of the long-standing conflict. "As a strategic border town, Bawku's instability poses a wider national and regional security risk.
The expansion of attacks to other regions, including the North East and Ahafo, further underscores the urgent need for the conflict to be resolved. "The continued insecurity in Bawku is crippling essential services and has forced schools to shut down, depriving children of their right to education," he noted.
