The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has issued a stern warning to the public against attacking personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Speaking during the commissioning of a new fire station at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region, the minister expressed concern over the increasing incidents of assaults on fire officers, often triggered by alleged delays in responding to emergencies.
He announced new measures aimed at protecting fire personnel, including a collaboration with the Ghana Police Service to ensure their safety during operations. "We are going to enhance the safety of our staff from the National Fire Service," the minister said. "This is a collaboration with the Ghana Police Service.
Anytime our firefighters move to a fire site or respond to a rescue operation, the police will accompany them.
