The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson has led a team of security personnel to conduct a swoop at illegal mining sites at Bonsar in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality of Western Region.

The swoop, which was meant to flush out illegal miners whose activities were polluting the Bonsar River, arrested three suspects after majority of them bolted.

The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, in an interview with the media after the swoop on Thursday, April 10, said the exercise will continue until the river banks in the region are duly cleared of illegal mining activities to save the water bodies. "It's so sad to see the Bonsar River body reduced to this.

They are unable to process the river because it's heavily silted.
