Member of Parliament for Bawku Central and Majority Leader in Parliament, Hon.
Mahama Ayariga, has publicly condemned the actions of police officers involved in the shooting of some youth in Bawku earlier today.
In a statement released on April 9, 2025, Ayariga distanced himself from any involvement in the operations of law enforcement officers in the area.
He clarified that he had never instructed any police officer to either permit or prevent individuals from accessing markets or purchasing goods, stating that such matters fall under the jurisdiction of law enforcement agencies-not elected representatives. "I totally condemn the actions of the police in shooting some youth in Bawku today," Ayariga stated. "I have never had any discussion with the police directing them to allow anyone to attend any market or purchase anything from anyone.
