The flawed SIM re-registration exercise under the previous administration is to blame for rising fraud cases, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Sam Nartey George has said.
Speaking on Citi FM's Eyewitness News on Wednesday, April 9, Sam George described the initiative as a "botched exercise" that failed to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and left significant gaps in addressing fraud.
George assured that the new SIM registration process would be a "clean one," leveraging advanced technology and prioritising a human-centered approach. "This is a human-centered, technology-driven exercise," he stated, emphasizing the government's commitment to making the process seamless and stress-free for Ghanaians.
The Minister expressed confidence that the new initiative would correct the failures of the past and restore public trust.
