The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has revealed a spike in road crashes, injuries, and deaths between January and March 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
The Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Eastern Regions recorded the most incidents, with Greater Accra seeing a 26.7% decrease in fatalities.
Although Greater Accra recorded more than double the number of crashes compared to the Eastern Region, the Eastern Region had a higher fatality rate, with 28 deaths for every 100 crashes, compared to 10 deaths in Greater Accra.
This information was disclosed in the NRSA's provisional statistics report during a stakeholders' meeting on Wednesday, April 9, aimed at discussing collaborative interventions to address the rising occurrence of road traffic crashes.
