Former Madina MP Alhaji Amadu Sorogho has backed President John Dramani Mahama's directive to end post-retirement contract appointments for retired public servants.

Speaking on Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, April 9, Alhaji Sorogho welcomed the move, describing it as timely and necessary to create space for younger professionals within the public sector.

He argued that the long-standing practice of granting contract extensions after retirement has limited opportunities for the youth and encouraged an unhealthy dependency culture among retirees who are retained. "Chief Director, Head of Department, you are 60-year-olds.
