President 's 10-day deadline to Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo, to respond to the three separate petitions brought against her ends on Monday, April 7, 2025.
This follows a letter dated March 28, 2025, in which the president through his executive secretary, Dr Callistus Mahama directed Gertrude Torkornoo to submit a preliminary response to three separate petitions demanding her removal from office.
The Chief Justice had on March 27, 2025, requested copies of the petitions alleging abuse of office, misconduct and abuse of power.
Background On March 25, 2025, President Mahama began consultations with the Council of State following the submission of three petitions seeking the removal of the Chief Justice, Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.
