Former spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng, is urging a deeper probe into the circumstances surrounding the missing containers reportedly imported by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Speaking on The Forum on Asaase Radio, Kwarteng stressed the need for accountability beyond partisan debates, insisting that the real issues lie in the procurement processes and those who oversaw them. "For me, the discussions should also be more about the procedures - how the contract was awarded, to which company, and the total value of the contract," he said, emphasizing that attention must shift to how the contract was initiated and executed.
Kwarteng raised critical concerns over the logistics involved in clearing the goods, questioning the ECG's oversight role and the transparency of the delivery process. "If the delivery terms were clearly spelt out in the contract, then why are the containers missing at the port?
Is it the case that ECG appointed an agent to clear the goods, and if so, who was the agent, and which warehouse was used?" he asked.
