The Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has revealed that the ministry allocates $15 million annually to cover rent for Foreign Service Officers, a financial burden that has significantly strained the ministry's budget over the years.
To address this challenge, the Minister announced a strategic plan to purchase two properties each year.
This initiative is aimed at reducing long-term rental costs while enhancing investments in the welfare of the ministry's staff.
However, the Minister raised alarm over the deteriorating state of several state-owned properties abroad, attributing the issue to poor maintenance practices.
