Media personality and show host on UTV, Yaa Konama, has called on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to protect the party's current 88 Members of Parliament from being contested when the party holds its next primary.
Speaking on her show, the experienced journalist stated that these MPs fought hard in the election to win and saved the NPP from an embarrassing defeat in the 2024 parliamentary election.
She contended that these MPs, who form the 'mighty minority' in Parliament, are keeping the government on its toes, which is why they need to be protected. "My appeal is that those in the NPP who are lacing their boots to contest for Parliament, please allow the 88 MPs to go unopposed.
If it were not for these MPs who have saved the NPP, the situation would have been very bad.
