A youth group in Bawku in the Upper East Region has criticised President for not resolving the ongoing conflict in the area, accusing the government of inaction despite promises made during the 2024 elections.
In a video shared on X by For the Records on Friday, April 4, 2025, the group accused the president of failing to live up to his commitments in spite of the high hopes they had when he assumed office. "When we heard your promise to bring a lasting solution to the Bawku conflict, we were overwhelmed by it and thought the NDC was our saviour. "We didn't know it would take you so long to solve the Bawku issue when we voted you into power," they added, pointing out the delayed response to a crisis that has claimed many lives", they noted.
The group further blamed the two political parties in the country for using the conflict for political gains. "We now realise that the politicians are using the Bawku conflict for their self-face political gains.
Politicians keep deceiving us with their fake promises to bring lasting peace to Bawku just for us to vote them into power. "Do you know that since your assumption of office as president, more than 18 people have been killed in this Bawku conflict, including women and children.
