President John Dramani Mahama has been captured in an exchange of words with a representative of the Gbawe Traditional Council over the sale of lands marked as Ramsar site, during a visit to assess demolition exercises in the enclave.

In a video shared by SikaOfficial on his X account, on April 4, 2025, President Mahama is seen questioning the man who maintained that he had the title deeds from the Gbawe Traditional Council to back the sale of the land. "You said these are titled lands and that they are not wetlands?" President Mahama questioned him.

The man oblivious of the fact that the area was marked a Ramsar site, answered in the affirmative, adding that he was a representative of the council that sold the land. "Yes, these are titled lands owned by Kitec Delta Limited.

I'm with the Gbawe Traditional Council and we sold the land to the developer," he said.
