A member of the communications team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku, has expressed concern over the increasing number of cocaine busts recorded during the early months of the John Mahama-led administration.
According to her, it is alarming that security agencies have intercepted three massive shipments of cocaine within just three months of the new government taking office.
Speaking in an interview on Wontumi Radio, Ama Daaku noted that no such large-scale drug seizures occurred during the eight-year tenure of President Akufo-Addo. "In the eight years of Akufo-Addo's presidency, we never heard of any cocaine busts of this magnitude, but the same cannot be said about the NDC just three months into power.
We were informed that the security services had seized cocaine, gold, and dollars concealed in a 20-footer container.
