Sammy Gyamfi has pushed back against claims that the GoldBod Bill was rushed through Parliament without due diligence.
According to him, the legislative process was one of the most meticulous in recent history, involving extensive stakeholder consultations and parliamentary scrutiny. "It became clear from our engagements that a broad consultative approach was imperative in creating a legal and operational framework for the GoldBod that is fit for purpose," he stated.
Gyamfi highlighted that three major regional programs were held in Akyem Tafo, Kumasi, and Tarkwa, where chiefs, miners, and traders were engaged in discussions about the draft legislation.
Participants were given the opportunity to review the bill and provide their input, ensuring that the concerns of key industry players were considered.
