Energy and Green Transition Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, has called for the establishment of a three-member committee to investigate the disappearance of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers at the Tema Port.
According to the minister, the committee's primary task will be to meticulously trace the serial numbers of the missing containers to determine their final destination and uncover those responsible for their disappearance. "The primary responsibility of the committee would be to meticulously track the serial numbers of the missing containers," he stated.
Jinapor emphasized that such valuable assets, especially those containing essential equipment like electricity cables, should not be auctioned off or repurposed in ways that compromise their intended use.
Instead, he suggested that the state should take control of these resources and channel them into rural electrification projects. "By tracing these serial numbers, the aim is to determine the final destination of each missing container and identify all parties involved in their disappearance," he added.
