The unavailability of beds at the Weija Gbawe Municipal Hospital at McCarthy Hill in the Greater Accra Region has left healthcare professionals no choice than to administer care to patients in chairs at the facility.

A video sighted by GhanaWeb on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, showed the hospital overwhelmed with a high number of patients, with hospital wards filled to capacity.

Some patients at the ward were seen receiving treatment in plastic chairs as the staff managed to control the situation.

With no available space to accommodate patients, many were compelled to endure long hours at the Out Patient Department at the facility, affecting their timely access to healthcare.
