The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South Constituency Dr Kingsley Agyemang, has expressed worry over the government's failure to prioritise the mental health of Ghanaian youth.
In the view of the Abuakwa South MP, the (NDC), in spite of the over 30 health promises made in their 2024 manifesto, captured only six in the 2025 Budget, describing the budget as 'aboboya budget.' The MP disclosed that over 1000 Ghanaian youth are exposed to hard drugs like opioids and need urgent interventions to address the challenges, however the NDC government has not made allocation to address the situation. "Mental health is a great concern to us as a people and in every constituency, there are youth who are into hard substances like red.
Over 1000 youths have been exposed to use of opioids, yet the NDC did not make provision in the budget," he said.
The MP, contributing to the budget statement on the floor of Parliament, further observed that in spite of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NDC failed to make any allocation to cater for such emergencies.
