The suspects accused of killing cattle belonging to the Fulani community in Sabonjida, within the Nanumba North Municipality, have been arraigned before court.

They have been charged with Possession of firearms without lawful excuse, contrary to Section 11 of the Arms and Ammunition Act, 1972 (NRCD 9), and Cruelty to Animals, under Section 303 (1a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

On Wednesday, March 19, residents of the Sabonjida and Afayili communities launched an attack, killing animals and setting fire to huts belonging to the Fulani people.

Reports indicate that the violence was triggered by an armed robbery incident on the Bimbilla-Chamba road the previous night, which resulted in one fatality and another person sustaining cutlass wounds.
