The Unionized Workers of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) are demanding the immediate removal of Director-General, Professor Amin Alhassan, citing a loss of confidence in his leadership and concerns over financial management at the state broadcaster.

Addressing a Press Conference on Thursday, March 20, 2025, Sam Nat Kevor, Chairman of the union, said Professor Alhassan has become detached from the aspirations of both workers and the Corporation, making his continued stay untenable.

He pointed out that his tenure officially ended on October 1, 2023, yet the National Media Commission (NMC) has allowed him to remain in office.

The union is also pushing for a forensic audit of GBC's finances under Professor Alhassan's leadership. "We also demand an immediate investigation and forensic audits of the financial dealings at the GBC during the tenure of the Director-General," he said, calling for investigations into Internally Generated Funds (IGF), Payments related to the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 13th African Games, Colocation rentals, the sale or lease of GBC lands among others.
