Former Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah Yeboah has expressed concern over the National Investigations Bureau's (NIB) attempt to arrest Ernest Yaw Kumi, the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, despite a Supreme Court order staying the High Court's ruling. "I am surprised that after the Supreme Court had stayed the hands of the High Court in Koforidua, a state institution may want to take it upon itself to go and execute a frozen order," Tuah Yeboah remarked on the Channel One Newsroom on Wednesday March 19.
He emphasised the importance of allowing the legal process to run its course, urging patience until the Supreme Court concludes its deliberations. "He's before the Supreme Court; let that matter be completed and see where the next line of action will come from," he added.
Meanwhile, the Interior Minister, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, clarified that the attempted arrest of Kumi, on March 7, 2025, was indeed to enforce a bench warrant issued by the High Court for contempt.
Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Akwatia in the Eastern Region resisted the arrest attempt by operatives of the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).
