Members of Parliament have voiced strong opposition to the military's ongoing operations in Bawku, calling for an immediate end to the reported acts of brutality and urging accountability for those involved.
The military's actions are said to be in retaliation for the killing of a soldier in the area on March 17, 2025.
Bawku Central MP and Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, condemned the indiscriminate nature of the military's response, describing it as destructive and harmful to innocent civilians. "Men, women, children, old men, old women who could not flee, injuring some, destroying the properties of others, smashing television sets, bridges, and everything that came their way," Ayariga lamented.
He called for the military to withdraw and collaborate with law enforcement and community leaders to identify the perpetrators of the soldier's killing.
