Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications, has addressed the recent leadership change involving former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare, emphasising that the decision is not personal but a routine aspect of governance. "A new leader often makes changes to align key institutions, like the security services, with their vision for the country.
This is not personal; it is simply part of governance," Kwakye Ofosu stated on The KeyPoints on March 15, shedding light on the rationale behind the transition.
President John Dramani Mahama removed Dr Dampare, from his position as part of ongoing discussions about security sector reforms under his administration and appointed COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new IGP.
Ofosu further expressed gratitude for Dampare's contributions, highlighting his continued value and expertise. "We can only wish Dampare well and thank him for his services.
