Economic policy analyst, Senyo Hosi has dismissed speculation that President John Dramani Mahama removed IGP Dampare in the manner he did due to wrongdoing on the latter's part.
He believes that the President would have varied the way Dr Dampare was taken out of office, but for recent happenings. "I don't think that this exit was a planned exit of the President for Dampare," he said on The KeyPoints with Alfred Ocansey.
Hosi argued that Dampare was initially meant to be "celebrated" and honorably retired, but circumstances forced the President to assert his authority due to legal challenges. "I think Dampare was planned to be a celebrated person who may have been exited in a very honorable and beautiful manner," he noted.
Hosi believes the ongoing legal issues surrounding the removal of heads of security agencies pressured the President to take action. "It forces the hand of the President because you are practically trying to usurp his authority through the legal process," he explained. "Unfortunately for my friend Dampare, he's a victim of his good work," Hosi stated on The KeyPoints show with Alfred Ocansey.
