Former MP for Akuapem North, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, has threatened legal action against journalist Kwaku Annan over what she describes as "malicious, untrue and purposely calculated" allegations made against her on his programme.

In a cease-and-desist letter issued by her lawyers, the former Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry dismissed claims aired on Annan's show, The Frontline, in which he alleged that she had been declared wanted by the Ghana Police in connection with a crime involving the publication of nudity. "You further asserted that our client is a fugitive from justice and is engaged in immoral conduct frowned upon by society amidst several other wild allegations which are untrue," the letter, issued by legal firm Sima Consultancy, stated.

Asiamah-Adjei, who previously represented the Akuapem North constituency, has denied all allegations, insisting that she has "never been engaged in any crime or declared wanted by any investigative body at any point in time in the entirety of her life." Her lawyers accused Annan of spreading "frivolous allegations" without evidence, stating that his comments were "deliberately calculated to ruin the enviable reputation of our client." The letter also took aim at Annan's journalistic ethics, stating that "as a journalist, there are ethics to your professi on that must be adhered to at all times, which include providing relevant, true and verified news reportage and coverage to your audience, as well as not spreading false information to the public, ethics you have not demonstrated in your coverage thus far." Asiamah-Adjei is demanding a public retraction and an "unqualified apology" to be aired on the same platform within 48 hours, warning that failure to do so will result in legal action. "We are also demanding that you cease and desist from making further unwarranted, malicious and untrue publications on your TV platform or any other social media platforms," the letter added.
