The government has unveiled a new initiative aimed at supporting female students in primary and secondary schools by providing free sanitary pads to enhance menstrual hygiene and improve school attendance.
Presenting the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on March 11, 2025, Finance Minister Dr.
Cassiel Ato Forson announced an allocation of GH¢292.4 million for the distribution of free sanitary pads to JHS and SHS female students across the country.
