Former Director of Communications for Dr.
Mahamudu Bawumia's 2024 campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to declare a state of emergency in response to the worsening illegal mining crisis, commonly known as galamsey.
Speaking on Point Blank on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Aboagye accused the NDC of contradicting their earlier stance on galamsey, pointing out that their current actions mirror the policies they once criticized. "We want the NDC to declare a state of emergency because galamsey has escalated.
That is what they professed two months ago to us. "We burnt excavators, we arrested illegal miners, we put them in jail and the president today said that was not the way to go but that is exactly what he is doing now," he stated.
