The government is exploring the possibility of establishing a direct flight route from Accra to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, with the aim of enhancing connectivity and fostering bilateral relations between the two countries.
President John Dramani Mahama shared this update when he held bilateral talks with the leader of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, highlighting the broader context of Ghana's efforts to strengthen regional cooperation. "We're also looking at a possible direct flight from Accra to Ouagadougou, at least once a day.
There's an airline in Ghana that wants to start that flight, and then also how we can increase the supply of power to Burkina Faso - electricity exports to Burkina Faso and also the transit corridor for petroleum products," he stated.
The initiative to introduce a direct flight route is part of a broader agenda to improve transportation links and facilitate trade and commerce within the West African region.
