President John Dramani Mahama has expanded the portfolio of Interior Minister, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, appointing him as the Acting National Security Minister.
The appointment, made under Section 24 of the Securities and Intelligence Act 2020 (Act 1030), was officially announced to Parliament by Speaker Alban Bagbin on Friday, March 7, 2025.
In his new dual role, Muntaka will oversee national security operations while continuing his duties as Interior Minister.
The move comes as the government ramps up efforts to tackle evolving security threats and safeguard public safety.
