Renowned investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has expressed his disappointment over Ghana's persistent development challenges, even as the nation marked its 68th Independence Day.
Taking to his social media page on March 6, 2025, Manasseh wrote: "I'm not happy that at 68, we cannot clean our cities, keep lights on, have our taps flowing, and rid our forests of galamseyers." His statement reflects growing concerns among Ghanaians about the country's struggles with sanitation, power supply, access to clean water, and the ongoing menace of illegal mining (galamsey), which continues to destroy forests and water bodies.
As the country celebrated its independence with parades and speeches, Manasseh's post reignited discussions about Ghana's progress since gaining freedom from colonial rule in 1957.
