The Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, received a delegation from the Danish Embassy, led by Ambassador Tom Nørring, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
The ambassador's visit aimed to strengthen the collaboration between Denmark and Ghana in various areas of development, including wastewater management, sanitation, and climate adaptation.
In welcoming the delegation, the Minister underscored the importance of Ghana's relationship with Denmark while highlighting some areas of collaboration the ministry has worked on with the embassy over the years. "Denmark's collaboration with the Government of Ghana spans decades across various sectors, such as health, transport, water and sanitation, as well as local governance and decentralization, mainly through the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA)," he said. "The Ministry has collaborated with DANIDA in the implementation of interventions such as Danish Support to District Assemblies (DSDA) Phase I and II, District Development Facility (DDF), Local Service Delivery and Governance Programme, Right to Services and Good Governance Project (RSGGP), and the Local Service Delivery and Governance Programme," he added.
The minister also noted possible areas of collaboration going forward, including capacity building for officials and staff of agencies under the ministry and working together on Phase II of the DSDA project: 1.
