The Deputy General Secretary of the (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, has cautioned that if power changes hands in 2028, all workers employed by the current administration will be dismissed unless President reverses his decision on sacked workers.
According to him, the NPP will not hesitate to take similar action if the ruling (NDC) ignores their demand to reinstate workers recruited under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's administration.
Speaking in an interview shared on social media, Haruna stated, "Mahama should reinstate the workers he dismissed because you cannot claim to be creating jobs while dismantling existing opportunities. "I want to assure the NDC today that if they fail to recall those who were duly recruited and have been dismissed, then from 2025 to 2028, even if they recruit new people, we will remove all of them. "If they don't bring them back and instead hire new workers, let it be on record that we will sack all of them." President Mahama has dismissed all last-minute appointees recruited by the previous NPP government.
A letter issued on February 10, 2025, by the presidency and addressed to all heads of government institutions directed that all such appointments and recruitments be revoked. "Consistent with government procurement regulations regarding end-of-tenure appointments and recruitments, I wish to bring to your attention that all appointments and recruitments made in the Public Services of Ghana after December 7, 2024, are not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles. "Accordingly, all heads of government institutions are hereby requested to take the necessary steps to annul any such appointments or recruitments and submit a comprehensive report on the actions taken to this Office by February 11, 2025," the letter stated.
