The Member of for Okaikwei North Constituency, Theresa Lardi Awuni, says being a female MP should not discourage her colleagues from discharging their duties. The MP says female MPs must run shoulders with their male MPs, exhibit their level of competence, and participate fully in parliamentary activities. Speaking on the sidelines at the manifesto launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the University of Education, Winneba, she said just as male MPs were voted for to represent their constituents, female MPs also contested and won their elections to represent their people. She stated that, despite the challenges, female MPs can excel if they are up to the task. "You are there to represent your people. There are so many challenges, but it is up to you.
