The Right to Information Commission (RTI) has scheduled a mediation hearing for March 10, 2025, to address multiple complaints filed by William Kofi Yirekyi, the Founder and Leader of the Alliance for Restoration of Civil Rights, against the Ghana Police Service.
The hearing will take place at the Commission's headquarters in Accra and is expected to facilitate negotiations between the parties in accordance with Section 44(c) of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989).
A notice issued by the Commission, signed by Executive Secretary Yaw Sarpong Boateng, emphasized that the hearing will focus on cases RTIC/AFR/22/2024, RTIC/AFR/120/2024, and RTIC/AFR/09/2025. "Pursuant to Section 44(c) of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989), which empowers the Right to Information Commission ("the Commission") to resolve complaints through negotiation, conciliation, mediation, or arbitration, you are hereby notified of a mediation hearing as outlined below: Date: March 10, 2025," part of the notice stated.
The notice further indicated that all representatives attending the mediation must have the authority to make final decisions regarding the outcome of the cases.
