Former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Hon Abena Osei has responded to the address by the president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.

In a lengthy post shared via social media, the former Minister defended the economic achievements of the previous government.

She described the president's state of the nation address a predictable mix of economic doom-saying, political blame-shifting, and populist promises without a credible funding plan.

The Member of Parliament for Atiwa East expressing her shock in the address presented by the president said "It is ironic that, on the one hand, the President describes the economy as being in an intensive care unit (ICU), yet, on the other hand, he is pushing for massive new social intervention programs without indicating how they will be financed".
