The Centre for Employment of Persons with Disabilities (CEPD) has extended a congratulations message to President , for what they called his visionary leadership in considering the private member bill submitted by the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu.
According to CEPD, this significant proposal seeks to establish a 5% employment quota for persons with disabilities in both the public and private sectors, as well as ensure free tertiary education for persons with disabilities. "This bold and progressive initiative represents a major step forward in Ghana's commitment to inclusivity, social justice, and equal opportunities for all.
By championing this policy, His Excellency has reaffirmed his dedication to the empowerment and economic independence of persons with disabilities, recognizing their invaluable contributions to national development. "The introduction of a dedicated employment quota will create new economic opportunities, while free tertiary education will equip persons with disabilities with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in various fields." The CEPD stated in a press release that they are encouraged by this development and stand ready to partner with the government in ensuring the effective implementation of these policies. "We are committed to working with all relevant stakeholders to create an enabling environment where persons with disabilities can thrive in both education and employment, thereby fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
