The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with the tragic death of Joana Deladem Yabani, a Level 400 Biological Science student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

According to a statement from the Police Public Affairs Directorate, preliminary investigations revealed that the 21-year-old student was found unresponsive behind the Central Laboratory on campus in the early hours of February 27, 2025.

Medical personnel from KNUST Hospital confirmed her death at the scene before transferring her body to the hospital morgue for further examination.

A subsequent police examination revealed visible marks of violence on the deceased, raising suspicions of foul play.
