President John Dramani Mahama has announced his intention to significantly reduce the number of presidential staffers in his administration.

Speaking during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term on Thursday, 27th February, in Parliament, he emphasised the need for a lean and efficient government to ensure prudent use of public resources.

According to President Mahama, previous administrations had seen a surge in the number of staff at the presidency, leading to unnecessary expenditure. "We cannot continue to run a government where the cost of administration outweighs the benefits to the people.

My government will take decisive steps to reduce the number of presidential staffers to promote efficiency and accountability," he stated.
