Hamburger SV manager Merlin Polzin has shared his thoughts on Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer's failed transfer to French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, admitting mixed emotions about the situation.

The Ghanaian forward was heavily linked with a move to Nice this summer after an impressive season in the Bundesliga 2, but the deal collapsed in the final stages.

While Polzin sympathised with the 23-year-old, he also expressed relief at retaining a key player ahead of HSV's return to top-flight football. "I feel sorry for him," Polzin said. "At first, there's some disappointment, which is completely human.

But he's back in our team and a true professional." The HSV boss emphasised his admiration for Königsdörffer's attitude in the aftermath of the disappointment and praised the striker for remaining committed to the club's cause. "I'm happy to have Ransford back.
