Member of Parliament for Lambussie, Dr.

Titus Beyuo, has attributed the rise in opioid abuse in Ghana to regulatory failures, despite the existence of multiple laws designed to curb the crisis.

He pointed to guidelines set by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) for manufacturing standards and the oversight of the Narcotics Control Commission as measures that should be preventing the influx of illicit drugs.

His comments follow concerns raised by the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, regarding the increasing infiltration of unregistered drugs into Ghana's pharmaceutical market.
