The National Peace Council has expressed strong optimism that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will sign the peace pact ahead of the December polls, despite the conditions the party has outlined. Speaking to journalists in Accra, the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, said despite the conditions the party gave before committing to the peace pact, he was hopeful they would eventually sign. The National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, at a meeting with the leadership of the Peace Council, outlined six conditions under which it will sign the peace pact. He, among other conditions, called for the recommendations in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election probe to be implemented.
