The Deputy Finance Minister-designate, Thomas Nyarko Ampem has clarified why he did not do his national service.

At vetting today, February 24, 2025, Thomas Nyarko Ampem was asked to provide a yes or no answer to whether he did national service or not.

However, after his vetting, Thomas Nyarko Ampem clarified that he did not serve the one-year mandatory service because he was a trained teacher and trained teachers did not enroll for national service at the time. "Hello friends, following my vetting today, I wish to state that I was a teacher with GES that's why I didn't do the normal national service," he posted on X on February 24.
