Deputy Finance Minister-designate, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has committed to working closely with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to harness technology for boosting the nation's revenue.
Appearing before Parliament's Appointments Committee on Monday, February 24, Ampem stressed the critical role of technology in mobilising funds to support government operations.
He outlined plans to aggressively pursue revenue collection by enhancing existing systems and introducing innovative solutions. "I will work with my minister [Dr Cassiel Ato Forson] and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to use technology to ensure that we rake in more revenue," Ampem stated during his vetting.
He highlighted the expertise within the GRA and underscored the importance of providing staff with the right leadership and incentives to achieve ambitious revenue targets. "We have officials at the GRA who are so experienced in this, and I believe that if we provide them with the right leadership and incentives, we will be able to do this.
