Minister of State-designate for Public Sector Reforms, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba has called for a collective agreement among all stakeholders on how recruitments are done into the public sector.

She said this when she was asked about her view on the termination of the last-minute appointments done by the Akufo-Addo administration after the 2024 general elections.

She told the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, February 24 that "it is about engagement, understanding the issue, and collective agreement as to how we put people into our services, that will help us." She added "Because of the lack of political will, some people are employed due to favouritism and nepotism.

Others are there who are not supposed to be there." Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba further highlighted the need for a comprehensive review of the recruitment process.
