Immense jubilation erupted in Affiena, a farming community in the Wassa Amenfi West District of the Western Region after residents successfully cut down a decades-old tree believed to harbour evil spirits.

For years, the towering tree stood at the heart of the community, shrouded in mystery and fear.

Locals claimed it was the source of unexplained misfortunes, including illnesses, crop failures, and even deaths.

Some residents avoided passing by the tree at night, convinced it possessed malevolent powers.
