In the aftermath of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) crushing defeat in the 2024 elections, a fact-finding committee within the party has identified several local issues and internal divisions as key factors that worked against the party's prospects in many constituencies.

According to the findings, certain constituencies experienced significant tension, often sparked by local disputes that undermined the party's efforts.

In Asante Akim Central, for instance, party officers alleged that the incumbent MP had promised not to contest in the 2024 primaries but later went back on his word.

This created a divide within the constituency party, with some supporters refusing to accept the MP's decision to run again.
