The Sokode Senior High Technical School has been shut down following a violent clash between students and residents of the Sokode community.

The decision to shut down the school was taken by the Volta Regional Security Council (REGSEC) on Sunday, 23rd February.

Details indicate that on Friday, 21st February, 2025, some students entered the community without permission and engaged in confrontations with local residents, resulting in one resident sustaining an injury.

On Sunday, 23rd February, some young people from the community stormed the school seeking revenge, leading to a confrontation between the student population of over one thousand and the smaller group of town residents.
