Prof Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, former Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority Board and former Education Minister, has been detained by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) at Kawukudi.
The specific reasons for his arrest remain undisclosed.
His legal representatives are currently working diligently to obtain his release.
At present, his lawyers are at the NIB offices in Kawukudi, attempting to secure bail for the professor.
