The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has stated that the Majority caucus remains unshaken by the Minority's threat to stage a walkout during President John Dramani Mahama's State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Ayariga's response follows remarks from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who suggested that the Minority might take cues from the Majority's past conduct during similar addresses.

Speaking to the media on Friday, February 21, 2025, Afenyo-Markin, the Effutu MP, remarked, "As for the NDC, if they think that today [February 21], they're using Ernest Kumi to do politics, we're reminding them that next week Thursday, February 27, 2025, the President will be coming to the chamber.

They have forgotten that they're in government." In an interview on Eyewitness News the same day, Ayariga dismissed the Minority's threats, asserting the Majority's numerical advantage and its ability to maintain control in Parliament. "I don't think we can be threatened by Afenyo-Markin or any of the people on the minority side.
